
UT Martin Continues Fall Slate At West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The second rodeo of the season for the University of Tennessee at Martin took place over the weekend as the Skyhawks traveled to Ozark Region foe West Alabama.
The UT Martin men's squad placed seventh with 140 points as Missouri Valley College topped both the men's (780 points) and women's (370) standings.
Caden Ussery led the Skyhawk cowboys in calf roping, winning in average (21.2) while placing second in the short go (10.1) and fifth in the opening round (11.1). Owen Larrick also performed well in the event, finishing third in overall (23.4) and in the second go (11.4).
On the women's side, Kyndall Woltz (2.6) and Rylee Wells (2.7) each earned points in the opening round of breakaway roping – placing fourth and splitting sixth, respectively.
Ussery accumulated additional points in team roping, teaming up with Dakota Benight from Southern Arkansas to finish sixth in the opening round (7.9 seconds).
The UT Martin duo of Kinzey Newton and Kylie Jo Castor each turned in high-scoring performances in barrel racing. Newton won the short round with a time of 17.03 seconds before placing fourth in average (34.31). Castor managed points in all three phases, finishing second in the opening round (17.05) and fifth in both average (34.32) and short go (17.27).
The Skyhawks are off next week before returning to the arena on Oct. 9-11, traveling to Magnolia, Ark. for a rodeo hosted by Southern Arkansas.
