MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's rodeo team posted its best performance of the young 2025-26 season over the weekend, dialing up 330 points on the way to a fourth-place finish while the Skyhawk women's squad placed sixth with 70 points at Southern Arkansas.
The 330 points for the UT Martin cowboys were 190 points more than its previous-high this season. Missouri Valley College (670 points) won on the men's side while West Alabama (265 points) finished atop the women's standings.
Clint Southworth had a great weekend in calf roping as the graduate from Bagdad, Ky. won in average (22.4) after placing second in both the opening round (11.3) and the short go (11.1). Owen Larrick also managed points in all three phases of that event with times of 11.6 in the second round (third), 24.0 in average (fourth) and 12.4 in the first go (sixth).
In steer wrestling, Bentley Anthony's opening-round time of 6.0 seconds flat was good enough for a third-place finish as well as a fifth-place effort in average.
Cooper Stone competed alongside East Mississippi's Ryder Griffith in team roping as that duo placed fourth in the opening round with a time of 7.6 seconds.
A trio of Skyhawk cowgirls secured points in barrel racing, paced by Savannah Moran. The senior out of Ripley, Ohio finished third in the short go (16.05) and fourth in average (32.43). Ryanne Frecker's performance of 15.99 seconds in the opening round was the second-best time in the field while Gracie Restuccio placed fifth in both the short go (16.2) and in average (32.5).
UT Martin heads back to the Natural State next week as both the men's and women's squads will compete in the rodeo hosted by Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday, Oct. 16 through Saturday, Oct. 18.
