
Skyhawks Open 2025-26 Campaign With Solid Performances At Missouri Valley College

MARSHALL, Mo. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rodeo season officially began over the weekend as the Skyhawks took part in the annual rodeo hosted by Missouri Valley College. The UT Martin women's squad registered 180 points to place fourth in the standings while the Skyhawk cowboys managed 90 points to rank eighth on the men's side.
Host Missouri Valley College won in both the men's standings (630 points) and women's standings (267.5 points).
A pair of UT Martin cowboys earned points in calf roping. Caden Ussery's time of 10.7 seconds in the first go ranked fourth while Daniel Wilder accumulated points in his collegiate debut, placing fifth in the short round (12.2) and sixth in average (23.3).
Bekah Legan also shined in her Skyhawk debut as the freshman out of Franklin, Ind. earned points in all three phases of breakaway roping. She placed second in the opening round (3.1 seconds) before placing third in average (8.7) and fourth in the short go (5.6).
In steer wrestling, Will Perry secured points in average (13.0, fourth), the short round (7.6, fifth) and in the opening go (5.4, split fifth). Wilder also accounted for points with strong efforts in the short round (7.1, fourth) and in average (13.4, fifth).
Cooper Stone joined forces with East Mississippi's Ryder Griffin in team roping, coming away with times of 8.4 in the first round (split fourth) and 8.4 in average (split sixth).
The Skyhawk duo of Savannah Moran and Ryanne Frecker landed points in barrel racing. Moran ranked second in both average (31.5) and in the short go (15.69) while finishing fifth in the first round (15.81). Frecker placed fourth in both average (31.82) and in the second round (15.83).
In bull riding, Luke Stanley finished third in average (156), third in the short go (80) and split fifth in the opening round (76). Freshman Ryder Carpenetti additionally generated points in the opening go (79, third) and in average (79, fifth).
UT Martin is back in action next week when it travels to Livington, Ala. for a rodeo hosted by West Alabama on Thursday, Sept. 25 through Saturday, Sept. 27.
