Gelinas and Titus Win OVC Weekly Awards Again

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Graduate Parker Gelinas and redshirt senior Mac Titus were named as Defender and Goalkeeper of the week, respectively, by the Ohio Valley Conference for their play during the second week of the season, the league announced Tuesday. This is the second award this season for Titus and the third for Gelinas.
Gelinas played on a back line that kept two quality teams off the board for two consecutive shutouts on the week against Evansville and Southern Illinois. Opponents fired off 32 shots last week, with 14 going on target, none of which found the back of the net. Gelinas, Titus and the defense held the two teams that entered their respective matches with the Skyhawks averaging 2-plus goals per game scoreless.
Titus played all 180 minutes between the posts and had two clean sheets to show for it against the Purple Aces and Salukis. She saved seven shots in each match last week for a total of 14.
The awards mark the fifth of her career for Gelinas and fourth for Titus. After two draws last week, UT Martin enters conference play Saturday against Southern Indiana at 0-4-5. The Skyhawks host the Screaming Eagles in the OVC opener for both teams Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Skyhawk Soccer Complex.
