
Skyhawks Receive USC Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For its achievement in the classroom, the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team has been honored with the 2024-25 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, the organization recently announced. The Skyhawks concluded the last academic year with a team GPA of 3.49.
The Skyhawks turned in a total group effort academically with 21 of 26 players being named to the Fall 2024 Athletic Director's Honor Roll and 23 of 25 earning the distinction for Spring 2025.
Recently, 12 players earned a spot on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll, including three-time recipients Shayla Addington (Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS), Brooke Kala and Abbie McHenry. Meanwhile, Maren Cain and Caroline Moore were each named to the list for the second time in their careers.
In addition, five Skyhawks earned the OVC Medal of Honor, given to those who achieve the highest GPA in their sport. Cain received the award for the second time, while Addington, Anna Østergaard Ibsen (Balling, Skive, Denmark/HHX Skive College), Moore and Daksha Sutharshan each won the award for the first time.
The 2025 Skyhawks get their first taste of action Tuesday when they travel to Arkansas for an exhibition match at 6:30 p.m.
