MARTIN, Tenn. – Jonathan Xoinis will represent the University of Tennessee at Martin and the Ohio Valley Conference at the NCAA Golf Regional held at the Auburn University Club on Monday, May 12 through Wednesday, May 14.
Nearly three weeks after he shot a 210 (-6) at the Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo. at the 2025 OVC Championships, Xoinis returns to action in the postseason as the league's automatic qualifier. He is part of a stacked field that includes 13 teams (five top-25 squads, including No. 1 Auburn) and 10 individuals as 75 golfers will descend upon the par-72, 7,607-yard course that was built in 1999 and renovated in 2022 by designer Bill Bergin.
Xoinis will conduct his practice round on Sunday, May 11 at 9 a.m. before officially teeing off Round 1 of the tournament on Monday. He will start at 9:20 a.m. on Hole No. 1 alongside Big South Conference individual champion Jeep Patrick from Presbyterian and Cameron Biddle of Big South team champion USC Upstate. Xoinis' Tuesday and Wednesday tee times will be set according to scores in the previous round.
The Auburn NCAA Regional participants will look to avoid interruptions from Mother Nature during the early portion of the tournament. Sunday's practice round forecast calls for a 63 percent chance of thunderstorms with a high of 72 degrees and 13 mile-per-hour winds. Monday's Round 1 will include a 58 percent chance of showers with a high of 76 and nine mile-per-hour winds. The weather projects to clear up for Tuesday's Round 2 (partly cloudy, 24 percent chance of precipitation, high of 78, eight mile-per-hour winds) and Wednesday's final round (mostly sunny, eight percent chance of precipitation, high of 86 and nine mile-per-hour winds).
The low five teams and low individual not on those aforementioned teams from the Auburn Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship event on May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa North Course in Carlsbad, Calif.
Xoinis will be making his second career NCAA Regional appearance as he led the Skyhawks with a 221 (+5) as a redshirt freshman in the 2022 Norman (Okla.) Regional. The redshirt senior out of Chattanooga, Tenn. will be taking part in his 48th career collegiate event and 138th through 140th rounds of stroke or match play at UT Martin under head coach Austin Swafford. The OVC Championships medalist victory was the first of Xoinis' career as it also improved his season stroke average to 72.8, ranking just outside the top-10 in the Skyhawks' NCAA Division I history (since the 1992-93 campaign).
