
Both UT Martin Squads Place Fourth At 57th Annual Spring College Rodeo

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin hosted another entertaining showing over the weekend as the program's 57th Annual Spring College Rodeo was successfully conducted at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex.
Both Skyhawk teams placed fourth in their respective standings as the UT Martin cowboys managed 370 points and the Skyhawk women's squad accumulated 155 points.

Four separate UT Martin cowboys came away with points in calf roping. Bentley Anthony placed second across the board with times of 10.4 in the first go and 11.0 flat in the short round for a 21.4 average. Coming in right behind him was Caden Ussery, who finished third in each of the opening round (10.6), short go (13.7) and average (24.3). Weston Lewis placed fifth in both the short round (19.2) and average (32.4) while Jace Stigall's 11.2 in the first round was good enough to split fourth.
Anna Wilder led the way for the Skyhawk women's team in goat tying as her 7.0 seconds flat in the first round was the fourth-best time in the field.
A trio of UT Martin cowboys received points in the team roping event. Ussery formed a duo with Southern Arkansas' Dakota Benight to place third in the opening round (7.4) and fifth in average (7.4). Meanwhile, Skyhawk teammates Anthony and Stigall posted a time of 7.6 in the first round (placing fourth) and a 7.6 in average (sixth-best in the field).

UT Martin came away with a plethora of points in barrel racing, headed by Allie Sherman. The senior from Walnut Ridge, Ark. swept first-place honors in all three phases of the event, winning with an average of 26.78 after performances of 13.5 (first round) and 13.28 (short go). Josie Luttrell also performed well with second-place efforts in both the average (27.29) and in the opening go (13.54) while splitting fourth in the short round (13.75). Ryanne Frecker additionally tallied points in all three phases – finishing second in the short round (27.4) while checking in at fourth in average (27.4) and sixth in the first go.
The Skyhawks are back in action next week for their regular season finale, heading to Senatobia, Miss. for a rodeo hosted by Northwest Mississippi on April 24-26.
