
Skyhawk Squads Pile Up Points En Route To Second-Place Finishes In Regular Season Finale At Northwest Mississippi

SENATOBIA, Miss. – The final Ozark Region regular season rodeo of the 2024-25 regular season took place over the weekend at Northwest Mississippi as the University of Tennessee at Martin men's and women's team each came away with second-place performances.
The Skyhawk cowboys earned 480 points – their second-highest total of the season – while the UT Martin cowgirls were responsible for 235 points for their third-largest score of the 2024-25 campaign. Those scores trailed only Missouri Valley College on both sides of the team standings (730 points in men, 250 in women).
Caden Ussery showed out in calf roping as the junior out of Huntersville, NC won in average (20.9) and in the opening round (9.9) while placing second in the short go (11.0). Cooper Stone (third in the second round with an 11.9, fourth in average with a 25.2) and Bentley Anthony (fourth in the opening round with a 12.0, fifth in average with a 27 and sixth in the short go with a 15.0) also collected points for the Skyhawks.
In breakaway roping, Josie Luttrell split first with a 6.4 average while claiming second place in both the opening round (2.4) and short go (4.0). Emma Kate Wilder additionally provided points in all three phases, finishing fourth in average (15.1), fourth in the short round (12.1) and fifth in the first go (3.0).
Four UT Martin representatives tallied points in team roping. Noah Beshears and Caleb Dunn teamed up to place second in the short round (9.1) and third in average (22.7) while Colton Whittymore and Tate Ondrik finished fourth in average (25.1), fifth in the opening go (10.2) and fifth in the short round (14.9).
The Skyhawks will now have to wait until the selections are announced for the 77th Annual College National Finals Rodeo, which will take place on Sunday, June 15 through Saturday, June 21.
