
UT Martin Back In Action This Week For Spring Opener

MARTIN, Tenn. – The first of five regular season Ozark Rodeos during the spring semester starts tomorrow as the University of Tennessee at Martin will travel to Russellville, Ark. for a three-day rodeo hosted by Arkansas Tech.
The Skyhawks are exactly midway through the 2024-25 schedule as they took part in five rodeos during the fall season, which concluded on Nov. 14-16. Both UT Martin squads came away with a trio of top-five finishes in the fall, including a victory by the Skyhawk cowgirls at Southern Arkansas on Oct. 10-12. The UT Martin women's squad currently ranks third in the Ozark Region standings with 833.33 points while the Skyhawk cowboys are fifth with 1,225 points.
Five UT Martin cowgirls rank in the top-15 in the Ozark Region in barrel racing, paced by Anna Wilder's 350 points – which ranks atop the region and 19th nationally. Ryanne Frecker (190 points, sixth), Allie Sherman (125, 10th), Savannah Moran (120, 11th) and Allie Maxwell (90, 15th) have also earned points so far this fall.
Anna Wilder (140 points) and Emma Kate Wilder (115) also rank 10th and 12th, respectively, in the regional goat tying standings through the fall campaign.
On the men's side, Caden Ussery sits in third in the men's all-around competition with 410 points. He currently ranks fifth in the region in team roping heeler (260) and eighth in calf roping (150).
Caleb Dunn is responsible for a team-best 170 points in calf roping, checking in at sixth in the Ozark Region standings in that category. Owen Larrick (140 points, ninth), Bentley Anthony (110, 12th) and Cooper Stone (95, 14th) also rank in the top-15 in the region in this event.
Following Ussery in the Ozark Region team roping heeler rankings is Jace Stigall (160 points, sixth) and Dunn (80, 13th). In team roping header, Anthony ranks sixth with 160 points and is followed by teammates Kolby Krieger (130, seventh) and Noah Beshears (80, 14th).
After this weekend, the Skyhawks will compete in back-to-back rodeos in the Magnolia State (East Mississippi on March 13-15, Pearl River on March 20-22) before the 57th Annual UT Martin Spring College Rodeo on April 17-19. The Skyhawks migrate back south for a rodeo hosted by Northwest Mississippi on April 24-26 as the final regular season tuneup prior to the 77th Annual College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo. on June 15-21.
