
Skyhawks Fall Twice at Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of Tennessee at Martin Softball team dropped two games Saturday at the 2025 Paladin Invitational at Pepsi Stadium inn Greenville, South Carolina. The Skyhawks got caught by a late-inning rally from Evansville in the opener to fall. 9-6, and were then edged by Stonehill in the nightcap, 2-1.
UT Martin took advantage of five errors by the Purple Aces in game one, scoring all six of its runs without a single RBI. The Skyhawks led the game, 6-4, when the Purple Aces reeled off five unanswered runs over the final two innings of the game for the comeback 9-6 win. Evansville pounded our four home runs in the contest including a two-run bomb by Keghan Pye in the seventh that put her team on top for good.
Kyla Harley was the only Skyhawk to tally multiple hits in the contest, as she went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Dylan Scott had the lone extra base hit of the day for UT Martin, a double in the bottom of the fifth, while Avary Makarewicz and Scott each had two stolen bases and Harley had one.
Against Stonehill, Kennedy Brown got UT Martin on the board in the first inning when she scored on a failed stolen base attempt by Kyla Harley. Stonehill, also the Skyhawks, then scored on a pair of RBI singles in the third and seventh to take a 2-1 lead. UT Martin was unable to score in the seventh and fell by a single run.
Harley and Jordyn Hustey had the lone hits for UT Martin in the game, while Makarewicz drew two walks. Kennedy Brown and Kaylin Reeves extended UT Martin's successful stolen base streak to begin the season to four with each stealing one.
The Skyhawks will wrap-up play at the 2025 Paladin Invitational Sunday when they take on Stonehill at 7:30 a.m.
