MARTIN, Tenn. – Two trips down south, three SEC opponents and a home tournament for the second season in a row highlight the 2026 University of Tennessee at Martin softball schedule announced by head coach Chelsea Farmer Monday.
"Coming off of a year like last year, I think this schedule shows how serious we are about getting better, not backing down and becoming the best we can be," said Farmer of the schedule. "If you want to be the best, you have to play the best and we have a great schedule to adequately prepare ourselves for OVC play."
The Skyhawks will kick-off the 2026 season in Florida at the Frank Griffin Classic Feb. 6-8 hosted by Stetson. While in the Sunshine State, UT Martin will take on the host Hatters, Indiana State and Seton Hall.
A week later, the Skyhawks open their home slate by hosting the Skyhawk Invitational at Bettye Giles Field for the second season in a row, Feb. 13-15. This year, the event will play host to Mississippi Valley, Saint Louis and Valparaiso.
On Feb. 20-22, UT Martin will make another trip towards warmer weather, this time to South Alabama's Mardi Gras Classic in Mobile. While in Mobile, the Skyhawks will take on Loyola Chicago, North Alabama, West Georgia and the host Jaguars.
The Skyhawks will wrap up early-season tournament play Feb. 27-Mar. 1 at Middle Tennessee's MTSU Tournament. The event will be a three-team affair featuring the host Blue Raiders, Akron and the Skyhawks.
UT Martin will play six non-conference midweek games this season, including road trips to three SEC opponents, two home games and a neutral site game in nearby Lexington, Tennessee. On Mar. 3, the Skyhawks will travel to Ole Miss followed by a Mar. 11 trip to Missouri. On Mar. 17, UT Martin hosts Middle Tennessee at Bettye Giles Field, followed by a Mar. 25 trip to Mississippi State. On Apr. 7, UT Martin takes on former OVC foe Murray State at home, followed by an Apr. 14 game with another former OVC opponent, Austin Peay, in Lexington.
The Skyhawks will host five OVC weekends in the 2026 season, beginning with Southeast Missouri Mar. 14-15. Other home conference series for UT Martin include SIUE (Mar. 28-29), Western Illinois (Apr. 11-12) and Morehead State (Apr. 18-19). The Skyhawks will wrap up the season at home May 1-2 for their annual Senior Weekend.
