MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team had stellar pitching on Senior Day but couldn't punch through in a 3-0 setback to Lindenwood at Skyhawk Field.

The UT Martin pitching staff held the visiting Lions to just two earned runs on six hits for the game. Jeb Bartle (2-4) started the contest and went five-plus innings with two runs allowed on four hits. Baylor Jones followed with two no-hit frames before Tucker Reed did not concede an earned run over two innings of work.

At the plate, Alec Beaman and Andrew Fernandez each had multi-hit games while Mac Danford and Jonah Wichman also collected hits.

Lindenwood (16-35, 9-15 Ohio Valley Conference) scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first but Bartle bounced back to leave a pair of runners stranded in a scoreless second frame. The Lions added one run in the third but Bartle retired eight consecutive hitters at one point, getting the final two outs of the third before breezing through perfect fourth and fifth frames.

Jones kept Lindenwood off the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh, stranding a runner in each frame. An unearned Lion run crossed the plate in the eighth before Reed worked a perfect ninth on just six pitches.

Meanwhile, the UT Martin (20-31, 12-12 OVC) offense was producing baserunners but couldn't come up with the timely hit. Wichman and Beaman each singled in the third inning but Lindenwood got out of a jam. The Skyhawks followed with two baserunners (a Fernandez single and Will Smith walk) in the fourth but couldn't cash in on the opportunity.

A Fernandez double and Danford single followed in the sixth but once again the Lions were able to limit the damage. UT Martin got one baserunner aboard in both the seventh and ninth innings but couldn't bring the tying run to the plate in either frame.

The Skyhawks close out the regular season with a three-game set at Southeast Missouri on Thursday, May 16 through Saturday, May 18.
