BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Kylie Surratt, a star outside hitter on the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball team, was tabbed as the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week this afternoon for the second week in a row and third time overall in 2024.
Surratt has now won the second-most OVC Freshman of the Week accolades in the league this season, trailing only Lindenwood's Autumn Bax (four). Today's announcement results in Surratt now owning three of the program's eight OVC Freshman of the Week awards all-time.
Hailing from Maryland Heights, Mo., Surratt slammed down 43 kills (4.30 per set) on a .212 hitting percentage to go along with 22 digs (2.20 per set), four assists, three service aces and three blocks over a trio of matches last week. She topped the Skyhawks in kills in all three matches, upping her total to 12 matches where she has led the squad in that category this fall.
In Tuesday's home victory against Southern Indiana, Surratt compiled a whopping 16 kills on a .286 attack percentage in the 3-0 sweep. She followed that with two more double-digit kill efforts in the road series at Western Illinois, accounting for 14 kills in four sets on Friday before posting 13 rally killers in just three sets on Saturday.
Against OVC competition, Surratt ranks fourth in the league in kills (3.46 per set) and sixth in points (3.78 per set). Overall, she ranks eighth in the OVC in kills (3.04 per set) and ninth in points (3.40 per set).
Surratt and UT Martin put the finishing touches on a four-match road swing this weekend when it heads to Music City for a Nov. 1-2 series against OVC rival Tennessee State.
