UT MARTIN'S GELINAS TABBED AS OVC PLAYER TO WATCH FOR UPCOMING SOCCER SEASON

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- The Ohio Valley Conference announced its women's soccer preseason "Players to Watch" list today, and the University of Tennessee at Martin redshirt sophomore defender Parker Gelinas was tabbed as one of ten athletes on the lineup.

A native of Germantown, Tenn., Gelinas returns to the pitch after missing the entirety of last year with a knee injury. In the 2021 campaign, the graduate of Houston High School took the OVC by storm, winning Freshman of the Year accolades on the way to first team all-conference honors.Â

Gelinas was a part of the 2021 OVC championship team and started all 18 matches, helping anchor a defense that surrendered the fewest goals in the OVC that year (16). She played the second-most minutes on the roster across her first collegiate season (1,634).

Gelinas is one of 10 returners for Mike Varga, who also added 17 newcomers to the 2023 roster after he was named Skyhawk head coach on June 5.

The 26th season of UT Martin soccer begins on Aug. 18 as the Skyhawks meet Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn. First touch is set for 6 p.m.
