NO. 10 SKYHAWK EQUESTRIAN PLAYS HOST TO NO. 1 SMU TOMORROW ON SENIOR DAY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The No. 10 ranked University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad will honor a dozen seniors on Saturday, Feb. 11 following the highly anticipated matchup against the No. 1 SMU Mustangs at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex. The action begins at 10 a.m. while Senior Day festivities will take place following the conclusion of the meet (approximately 5:30 p.m.).
Twelve remarkable seniors – Mahalia Alascio, Tyler Anderson, Paige Benson, Abi Clark, Julia Gilman, Haley Kane, Abi Myers, Anna Ordonio, Casey Ruggiero, Keely Seiter, Erica Snyder and Grace York – will be honored for their career contributions to the Skyhawk program.
Alascio has competed in both Jumping Seat events during her collegiate career, piling up eight of her nine career victories in flat. She also garnered MOP accolades in both fences and flat events during her sophomore season. The Annapolis, Md. native has additionally chalked up National Collegiate Equestrian Association All-Academic accolades on two separate occasions while majoring in health and human performance.
Hailing from Novi, Mich., Anderson has collected 13 collegiate victories in the Jumping Seat discipline (seven in flat and six in fences). Both of her career MOP's came in fences during the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship tournament last season, when she was also named ECAC Flat Rider of the Week on Oct. 19. The health and human performance major has also brought home NCEA All-Academic honors twice in her career.
Benson is the proud owner of nine career wins and four MOP's in horsemanship during her UT Martin career. The Spokane, Wash. native paced the Skyhawks with two horsemanship MOP's a year ago and dialed up three wins in that event in each of her first three collegiate seasons. Outside of the arena, she has received UT Martin Athletic Director's Honor Roll awards in two different seasons while majoring in economics.
A Castle Rock, Colo. native, Clark has been a leader for the Skyhawks during her collegiate career. She made one official start in reining last season against SMU and also won an exhibition head-to-head matchup last season against Miami (Ohio). In the classroom, she is a health and human performance major who has chalked up UT Martin Athletic Director's Honor Roll accolades in five separate semesters.
A 2022 NCEA flat All-American and All-ECAC performer, Gilman has generated a whopping 37 victories and seven MOP's while competing in both Jumping Seat events during her storied Skyhawk tenure. The Barrington, Ill. native has accumulated six ECAC Rider of the Week accolades and one ECAC Rider of the Month award over the last three seasons. She has also found her name on the UT Martin Athletic Director's Honor Roll list in all seven semesters of her collegiate career while majoring in business management and marketing.
Kane is responsible for 26 career head-to-head wins and five MOP's in the Jumping Seat discipline during the course of her Skyhawk career. During her junior campaign, the Lexington, Ky. native was an All-ECAC first team selection in fences, soaring to 10 wins and three MOP's in one season alone. Academically, she is a veterinary technology major who has garnered back-to-back NCEA All-Academic first team honors and is a three-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.
Hailing from Newport, Pa. is Myers, who has taken part in a pair of demo rides this season after competing in the exhibition against Miami (Ohio) last year. In fences demo's against Lynchburg and South Dakota State this season, she posted scores of 81 and 76 points, respectively. She has earned a spot on the UT Martin Athletic Director's Honor Roll three times while majoring in nursing.
Ordonio has competed in a pair of exhibitions to go along with two appearances as a demo rider in flat during her Skyhawk career. Last season, she collected 86 points in her demo performance against Minnesota-Crookston on March 12. Away from the arena, the Frederick, Md. native is a biology major who was a NCEA All-Academic honoree during her junior campaign.
An Arlington, Va. native, Ruggiero has taken part in three demo rides and a pair of exhibitions in flat at UT Martin. Her best two scores came last season against South Dakota State on March 11, topping out with a score of 72.5 points. She also sports an unblemished 4.0 cumulative Grade Point Average while majoring in international studies and has earned a nod on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of her first three seasons.
Seiter has emerged as one of the Skyhawks' top horsemanship riders over the past two seasons, accumulating eight head-to-head victories which are the most on the squad in that span. Her career-high of 76 points came against Minnesota-Crookston on March 12, 2022. A biology major, the Kansas City, Mo. native was a NCEA All-Academic first team recipient last year and has three mentions on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Hailing from Flushing, Mich., Snyder has appeared in three demo rides and a pair of exhibition contests during her time at UT Martin. Exclusively performing in horsemanship, her best two demo rides came against No. 1 ranked and eventual national champion Oklahoma State last season when she posted a high of 71.5 points on Jan. 12. The nursing major has made it on the UT Martin Athletic Director's Honor Roll for six consecutive semesters.
York has competed in four exhibitions and three demo rides during her Skyhawk career, all occurring in fences. The Lake Orion, Mich. native achieved a new high score during a demo this season against No. 7 ranked South Carolina, dialing up 85 points on Oct. 28. Academically, she is a nursing major who is a perfect 7-for-7 in appearances on the UT Martin Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
