NO. 10 UT MARTIN EQUESTRIAN READY FOR A PAIR OF HOME SHOWDOWNS THIS WEEKEND, HOSTING NO. 1 TCU AND NO. 5 GEORGIA

MARTIN, Tenn. – Three of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's top-10 teams will be in action this weekend at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex as No. 10 ranked University of Tennessee at Martin hosts No. 1 TCU and No. 5 Georgia.
The Skyhawks will take on TCU on Friday, Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. before squaring off against Georgia at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Horned Frogs and Bulldogs will also face each other in a multi-day meet as the flat/reining portion will take place immediately after the conclusion of the TCU/UT Martin meet on Friday.
Friday will be the fifth time in the last six years that UT Martin has hosted the nation's top-ranked team (SMU in 2022-23, Oklahoma State in 2021-22, Auburn in 2019-20, Auburn in 2018-19). The Skyhawks will also be playing host to TCU for the first time since Feb. 16, 2018 (13-6 setback) and will host Georgia for the first time since defeating the Bulldogs by a 11-9 margin on Jan. 24, 2019.
UT Martin has been led in flat this season by freshman Kate Mills, who tops the squad in scoring average (80.7) and is tied with Sydney Hott for the team lead with two victories. Hott has also compiled one MOP for the Skyhawks so far in 2023-24.
Hott paces UT Martin in scoring average (82.3), wins (three) and MOP's (one) in flat. Sophia Sundem has equaled Hott with three head-to-head victories and one MOP in the event.
Four Skyhawks (Lexi Bailey, Kate Davis, Mia McAfoos, Emma Schaefer) are tied for the team lead with two horsemanship wins apiece. Davis guides UT Martin with a 73.1 scoring average while Schaefer and Ava Newsom have each corralled one MOP.
In reining, Aubrey Malone boasts a team-best 68.5 scoring average while Schaefer and Logan Putvinski have each claimed a team-best two wins. Schaefer additionally owns one MOP on the season in that event.
Saturday is the second time that UT Martin will take on Georgia this season as the Bulldogs claimed a 13-5 home win back on Sept. 30. In that meet, Mills and Elizabeth Becker each scored points in fences for the Skyhawks while Sundem (flat), Bailey (horsemanship) and Putvinski (reining) also secured head-to-head triumphs.
