TRYOUT INFORMATION FOR UT MARTIN 2022-23 CHEERLEADING SQUAD ANNOUNCED

MARTIN, Tenn. – Third-year University of Tennessee at Martin head cheer coach Amber Minton has unveiled information on 2022-23 tryouts.
All participants trying out must be a full-time student at UT Martin. The cheer team is part of the Skyhawk Athletic Department and will cheer at all home basketball and football games, with several other appearances and performances throughout the year. The roster will be coed for football season while the all-female STUNT team for the spring semester will be comprised of the student-athletes chosen at tryouts.
Scholarships will be awarded to all cheer student-athletes based on the number of years cheered at UT Martin, grades, skills and team positions such as captains and social media handlers.
Cheer skill minimum recommended requirements are standing backhandspring(s) and roundoff series backhandsprings. Standing tucks, running backhandspring tucks, layouts and/or fulls are ideal.
A cheer application, video and tryout fee of $30 are due by April 23. The first day of tryouts will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 29. Day 2 of tryouts follows on April 30 before the third and final day of tryouts on May 1. The official roster will be announced on May 4.
