Amber Minton
- Title:
- Head Coach
- Email:
Amber Minton, who attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and a former Skyhawk assistant cheerleading coach, was named the head cheer coach on June 8, 2020. In addition to her duties with the cheer squad, she also has served as UT Martin's STUNT head coach since the program's inception in 2023.
Minton oversaw the introduction of Skyhawk STUNT as the sport was introduced as the school's newest athletic program in June 2021 but NCAA legislation wasn't approved as an emerging sport at the Division I level until January 2024. UT Martin became the first STUNT program in the state of Tennessee, posting a 6-2 record in an eight-game exhibition slate.
Following a highly successful trial run of exhibitions in 2023 while awaiting NCAA certification, the inaugural season of Skyhawk STUNT took place in 2024. UT Martin finished third nationally in the NCAA Division I ranks, falling only one game shy of playing for the national championship. Overall, the Skyhawks achieved five victories - including the program's first-ever postseason win on Day 1 of the NCAA Division I National Championship event held in Lexington, Ky.
          Â
Minton has owned Flip & Tumble Gymnastics in nearby Union City, Tenn. since 2005, building the business from the ground up. She oversees all daily business operations, accounting, scheduling, coaching competitive cheerleading teams, instructing tumbling classes, choreography and managing social media.
          Â
The Perry County High School graduate was a Skyhawk cheer assistant under Fran Spears during the 2011-12 season. During that time, Minton was responsible for practices, choreography and managing the cheerleaders at games.
          Â
Minton has established a winning culture at Flip & Tumble Gymnastics as her teams have earned dozens of national championships. That includes titles in organizations such as Cheersport, WSF One Up Championships, Mardi Gras Spirit Events, Athletic Championships, The US Finals, Jamfest, Deep South Spirit, WSA, Worldwide D2 Championships, Americas Best and more.
Minton has been a scoring, head, review and safety judge all over the United States for various competition companies since 2011. She also takes business and rules classes each year at the U.S. All Star Federation and USA Cheer Regional Conference.
Minton is married to her husband Blaze and the couple has three sons between them.
