
NO. 9 UT MARTIN EQUESTRIAN READY FOR BIG HOME WEEKEND AGAINST UC DAVIS, NO. 1 OKLAHOMA STATE

MARTIN, Tenn. – Competing in front of the home crowd for the first time in nearly three months is the University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad as the Skyhawks host a pair of opponents at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex this weekend. UT Martin takes on UC Davis on Friday, Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. before a Saturday, Feb. 12 matchup against No. 1 Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.
The Skyhawks are entering the middle section of their spring slate after opening the semester with a trio of meets in Texas on Jan. 27-29. UT Martin is coming off a win in its last home competition, turning away Lynchburg by an 8-2 margin on Nov. 13. In their first two meets inside the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion this season, the Skyhawks competed throughout before falling 13-6 to current No. 4 Baylor (Sept. 24) and 12-8 to current No. 2 Texas A&M (Nov. 12).
During its home meets so far this season, UT Martin has dialed up nine victories and a pair of MOP's in fences. Kelby Kane's three wins and one MOP lead five different Skyhawks who have notched a home win in the event. Haley Kane owns a pair of wins, one MOP and a team-best 82.7 scoring average in home competitions.
In flat, Kelby Kane is UT Martin's leader in wins (two), MOP's (two) and scoring average (79.2) in home meets. Julia Gilman has also earned a pair of head-to-head flat victories as five total Skyhawks have emerged victorious in the event at home.
Five separate UT Martin representatives have produced reining victories inside the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex this season. Kate Davis' two wins and 70.0 scoring average lead the way while she and Logan Putvinski have both garnered MOP status in reining at home.
A half-dozen Skyhawks have competed in horsemanship during home matchups in 2021-22. Paige Benson tops UT Martin in scoring average (74.3), joining Katelyn Schultz (71.0 scoring average) and Keely Seiter (70.5 scoring average) as the only three Skyhawks who have been members of the horsemanship lineup in every home meet.
