UT MARTIN MEN'S HOOPS REKINDLES SERIES WITH REGIONAL RIVAL ARKANSAS STATE ON THE ROAD TOMORROW

MARTIN, Tenn. – A busy start to the 2022-23 campaign continues for the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad as the Skyhawks make the short trek to Arkansas State on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Tipoff from Jonesboro, Ark. is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
This marks UT Martin's seventh game in 16 days to begin the season - the most by any Ohio Valley Conference institution. Following this contest, the slate slows down with just two games over an 18-day stretch.
Although the Skyhawks and Red Wolves are separated by only 140 miles, the series has gone dormant in recent years. Starting in 2004, these two teams squared off in all but one season during a 14-year span but have not played since a 92-78 UT Martin victory in Jonesboro on Dec. 5, 2017. The Skyhawks have won three of the last four matchups, including each of their last two visits to First National Bank Arena.
UT Martin (3-3) is coming off an exhilarating 80-79 home win over Prairie View A&M on Sunday in a contest that came down to the final possession. Parker Stewart (21 points), Jordan Sears (18) and KK Curry (15) were each responsible for season-best scoring outputs to help the Skyhawks overcome a double-digit first-half deficit. After Stewart knocked down the eventual game-winning shot with 1:29 left on the clock, three clutch defensive stands solidified the win for UT Martin.
Like the Skyhawks, Arkansas State (2-2) has played a pair of non-Division I opponents at home (86-55 win over Harding on Nov. 7, 82-58 victory against Lyon College on Nov. 14) and played a Southeastern Conference opponent to single digits on the road (tight 61-52 setback at LSU on Nov. 12).
The Red Wolves are coming off a 75-60 loss at UC Davis on Friday. In that game, junior guard Caleb Fields registered a career-high 25 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists to lead three Arkansas State scorers in double figures.
