UT Martin Claims 2025-26 Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Achievement Award For Men’s Basketball

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference wrapped up its end-of-season accolades for 2025-26 today as the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball program received the league's Team Academic Achievement Award for just the second time in program history.
The OVC Team Academic Achievement Award is presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution's team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 Grade Point Average or higher. Today's announcement is the second time in four years that the Skyhawks have brought home this honor in men's basketball – also winning during the 2023-24 campaign.
The 2025-26 UT Martin men's hoops squad placed 11 of its 14 eligible student-athletes (redshirts not included since they did not use a season of competition) on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll list for a 78.6 percent success rate. Overall, the Skyhawks posted a 3.495 GPA as a team in 2025-26.
Vladimir Khryapa became only the sixth UT Martin men's basketball player (and fourth freshman) to earn an OVC Academic Medal of Honor for a perfect 4.0 GPA. He joined teammates Andrija Bukumirović, Luca Colceag, Matas Deniusas, AJ Hopkins, Dragos Lungu, Lamine Niang, Filip Petkovski, Ty Price, Ama Sow and Afan Trnka on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2025-26.
The OVC Team Academic Achievement Award caps off a remarkable all-around 2025-26 campaign for Skyhawk men's basketball under head coach Jeremy Shulman. The program tied a school record with 22 victories and ranked in the top-10 in NCAA Division I men's basketball in four separate statistical categories. Off the court, UT Martin won the OVC Team Sportsmanship Award for only the second time in school history and also produced an OVC Community Service Award winner in Niang.
It was announced earlier this month that 33 Skyhawk student-athletes won an OVC Academic Medal of Honor as part of 187 UT Martin recipients of the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Both of those numbers ranked as the second-most in program history as the department as a whole generated a 3.39 combined GPA in 2025-26.
