UT MARTIN BEACH VOLLEYBALL HOSTS AUSTIN PEAY FOR A WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON DOUBLE DUAL

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball team holds its lone regular season home matches on Wednesday, April 21 as it will clash against Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay. Match times are set for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Skyhawk Beach Volleyball Complex.
UT Martin opened the 2021 beach campaign with a busy stretch last week, going 4-2 over a five-day span. The Skyhawks' .667 overall winning percentage ranks second in the OVC standings, trailing only Morehead State (4-0, 1.000).
Last week's action included a pair of matchups against Austin Peay as UT Martin won by identical 3-2 margins in Clarksville on April 14. A half-dozen Skyhawks posted perfect 2-0 days against the Governors, led by the No. 2 squad of Kayla Carrell and Karen Scanlon, who won the match-clinching points on both occasions. UT Martin's No. 3 tandem of Haeleigh Paulino/Logan Wallick and No. 4 duo of Addison Conley/Jessica Reynolds were additionally unbeaten throughout the day.
As a whole, the Skyhawks have been especially dominant in the middle three pairings this season – combining for a 14-4 record at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. That includes an unblemished 6-0 record out of Paulino and Wallick, who have competed five times at the No. 3 position and once in the No. 4 slot. Carrell and Scanlon have nabbed four wins while competing exclusively at No. 2 while Conley and Reynolds have additionally tacked on four combined victories at No. 3 and No. 4.
Lucy Kaufman and Hannah Phillips also were victorious this weekend at the two-day, four-match tournament hosted by Jacksonville State, defeating the No. 1 squad of Eastern Kentucky on Sunday.
Austin Peay (2-6, 2-3 OVC) earned its first wins of the season this weekend at the Jacksonville State event, defeating Eastern Kentucky (4-1) and Jacksonville State (3-2) while narrowly falling in five sets to both Chattanooga and Morehead State. Brooke Moore and Jenna Panning own a team-best six wins while competing mostly at No. 1 while Caroline Waite has four victories (including a perfect 3-0 mark at No. 5).
