SKYHAWK GOLF TO HOST GROVER PAGE CLASSIC AT JACKSON COUNTRY CLUB EARLY NEXT WEEK

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 18^th annual Grover Page Classic, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin golf program, will take place on Monday, Oct. 4 through Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.

This marks the first time the tournament has been held in the fall as it has typically occurred in early to mid-March. This also marks the official return of the event as last year's tournament did not occur because of an abbreviated spring schedule. Overall, the Skyhawks have claimed six Grover Page Classic tournament titles since 2009. That includes the 2020 version of the event as UT Martin won by 23 strokes over the tournament runner-up.

The 2021 Grover Page Classic field is slated for 93 players spread across 16 teams. Joining the Skyhawks in the field are Alabama State, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Belmont, Central Arkansas, Eastern Illinois, Indian Hills, Murray State, New Orleans, Nicholls, SIUE, Southern Illinois, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and Union.

The tournament is a 54-hole stroke play format as the teams will arrive at the Jackson Country Club – a par-72 course playing at 6,816 yards – for a practice round on Sunday, Oct. 3. The opening round tees off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Monday while the second round will follow later that afternoon. The final round tees off with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.

Monday's forecast calls for a high of 78 degrees and low of 56 while a high of 76 degrees and low of 58 are projected for Tuesday. Both days include partly cloudy skies and a 24 percent chance of precipitation with winds varying between six and seven miles per hour out of the north.

UT Martin is coming off its first tournament victory of the young 2021-22 season, winning the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by SIUE last week by eight shots. A total of eight Skyhawks will be in action at the Grover Page Classic as head coach Austin Swafford's lineup is Garrett Chumley at No. 1, Tate Chumley at No. 2, Jonathan Xoinis at No. 3, Bryson Morrell at No. 4 and Jacob Uehlein at No. 5. Cayden Chambers, Jackson Twerdahl and Ethan Ray will also represent UT Martin as individuals in the event.
