Skyhawks Claim Prestigious PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Presidents Special Recognition Award

NORMAN, Okla. – For the fourth time in program history, the University of Tennessee at Martin has received the PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Presidents Special Recognition Award as the Skyhawks were one of only 88 NCAA Division I schools to earn that title for the 2025-26 season.
Co-sponsored by the Golf Coaches Association of America, the Presidents Special Recognition Award honors institutions who reached an average team Grade Point Average of 3.5 or above. UT Martin joined Little Rock and Tennessee Tech as Ohio Valley Conference schools on this year's list and was one of just six NCAA Division I squads located in the state of Tennessee (alongside Belmont, ETSU, Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee and Tennessee Tech) to secure this accolade. The Skyhawks previously won the Presidents Special Recognition Award in 2017-18, 2019-20 and 2020-21.
The 2025-26 UT Martin golf program combined for a 3.52 team GPA as all nine student-athletes (Luke Beadles, Luke Caldwell, Bryce Harmon, Lucas Herring, Ian Lambert, Jaden Morrell, Grant Phillips, Drew Williams, John-Gregory Wilson) made the Skyhawk Athletic Director's Honor Roll at least once. Williams achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA as he, Caldwell, Phillips and Wilson were just honored by the GCAA with Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar mentions on Monday.
This award caps off another remarkable UT Martin campaign under head coach Austin Swafford. The 2025-26 Skyhawks equaled a program record with three All-OVC performers while posting seven top-5 tournament finishes for the second consecutive season. UT Martin additionally won the OVC Team Sportsmanship Award for the 10th time in the 21-year history of the accolade, tying the all-time record for most such honors by any school/sport duo in league history.
