RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team scored a season-high 42 points in the second half to erase a halftime deficit and cruise to a 65-39 road victory at Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Kentucky on Thursday evening, pushing the team's season-long winning streak to four games.
The Skyhawks (6-3, 5-1 OVC) struggled mightily in the first half of the contest, shooting just 27 percent from the field while committing nine turnovers and mustering a season-low 23 points. UT Martin would come out of the half armed with adjustments and a new focus to string together an 18-2 run in the opening minutes of the third quarter and retake a lead it would never relinquish.
UT Martin would shoot 53.5 percent in the second half while knocking down seven three-point attempts. The Skyhawks distributed the ball throughout the lineup with a season-high 22 assists as four players dished out three or more.
Chelsey Perry led all players in scoring once again with 22 points and eight rebounds, continuing her streak of consecutive games with 20 points or more to nine. Additionally, Perry surpassed Mary Kate Long (1,754) on the program's all-time scoring list to move into third place with 1,761 career points.
While Perry ranked as the team's lone scorer in double figures, junior Kyannah Grant played a huge role off the bench. While still recovering from a season-ending injury last year, Grant played a season-high 22 minutes while scoring nine points and tallying four rebounds and two assists.
Maddie Waldrop also just missed out on double figures with nine points, six rebounds and five assists while Dasia Young tallied eight points, four boards and three assists. Seygan Robins played efficiently from the point position, tallying six points and three boards while dishing out five assists.

"I didn't think we played well, but we will take every win we can get while we try to figure this thing out," UT Martin head coach Kevin McMillan said. "All I have been preaching is effort, effort, effort and I think the effort was there tonight. I guess I will just have to deal with looking a little out of sync if our effort is there and tonight it was. We just have to find a way to string things together and clean it up."
Eastern Kentucky (6-7, 5-4 OVC) struggled to find its shooting touch throughout the contest, shooting 26.8 percent for the game. The Colonels thought they found life late in the second quarter, stringing together an 8-0 run heading into the break to hold a two-point advantage at the half but could not keep the flame lit through the intermission and made just 6-of-26 attempts in the second half to stunt their comeback attempt. The Colonels leading scorer was Jayla Johnson with 11 points.
UT Martin will close out its road swing with a matchup at Morehead State on Saturday, Jan. 23. Tipoff is scheduled for noon CST.
