MARTIN, Tenn. – After four months away from official competition, the University of Tennessee at Martin golf squad opens its spring slate at the Loyola Intercollegiate on Feb. 22-24 in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Skyhawks will take part in this tournament for the fifth consecutive year, as their best finish in the event was in 2016 (fourth place, -13). The 2020 tournament features golfers from Air Force, Arizona State, Bucknell, Connecticut, Drake, Delaware, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Hartford, Loyola (Md.), Loyola Marymount, Marshall, Missouri State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, Seton Hall, SIUE, South Dakota, UT Martin and Xavier.
The tournament opens on Saturday with the first round of play and will be followed by the second round on Sunday before Monday's final round. Each day tees off at 8:45 a.m. CST. The event will once again be held at Palm Valley Golf Club, which is a par-72 course that plays at 7,015 yards. Live scoring for the event will be provided via GolfStat at the link above.
Recently picked to finish second in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll, the Skyhawks will look to carry their success over from the fall. UT Martin finished no lower than second place in each of its six tournaments, piecing together four straight team victories from Sept. 23 through the fall finale on Oct. 22. As a direct result, the Skyhawks are tied for the OVC lead with a 283.7 scoring average.
UT Martin's scoring lineup for the Loyola Intercollegiate includes Jack Story (70.1 scoring average, second in the OVC) at No. 1, Nick Wolf (71.6, 10th) at No. 2, Tate Chumley (72.4) at No. 3, Ross Redmont (71.4, fifth) at No. 4 and Mason Chandler (72.4) at No. 5. Jacob Uehlein (73.8) is also competing the 112-man field as an individual.
This marks the first of five regular season spring tournaments on the Skyhawks' schedule before the OVC Championships held in Muscle Shoals, Ala. on April 26-29.
