MARTIN, Tenn. – A tough four-game, two-week road swing comes to an end as the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team faces the Morehead State Eagles at Johnson Arena. Tipoff on Saturday, Feb. 1 is set for 2 p.m. CST.
At the midway point of the Ohio Valley Conference season, the Skyhawks (6-14, 2-7 OVC) look for a split of the road trip and establish momentum going into a stretch of home games. Although Morehead State enters the matchup on a three-game winning streak in the all-time series, nine of the last 12 games between these two team have been decided by single digits.
UT Martin currently leads the OVC in free throw percentage (.744), upping is accuracy to 76.9 percent against league opposition. The Skyhawks are coming off a season-best 88-percent shooting performance (22-of-25) from the charity stripe in Thursday's 99-86 setback at Eastern Kentucky.
Quintin Dove put on an offensive clinic during the aforementioned Eastern Kentucky game, tying his career-high in scoring with 35 points. The Preseason All-OVC honoree knocked down 11 of his 16 field goal attempts and all 12 of his free throw tries while also hauling in a game-high nine rebounds. His 35 points were the most by any UT Martin player who came off the bench since the school joined the Division I ranks in 1992.
The Eagles (10-12, 4-5 OVC) snapped a four-game losing skid on Thursday, defeating Southeast Missouri by a 90-74 margin. Morehead State held a 38-12 edge in points in the paint, handing out 23 assists against just seven turnovers.
Djimon Henson came off the bench for the first time all year and scored 21 points with eight rebounds for the Eagles on Thursday. Jordan Walker, who has averaged 15.3 points over four games in his career against the Skyhawks, also added 21 points against Southeast Missouri.
