EVENTFUL WEEKEND ON TAP FOR SKYHAWK RIFLE WITH THREE MATCHES IN TWO DAYS

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle squad is gearing up for an active weekend as the Skyhawks will host a pair of opponents and make a short road trip in a span of 48 hours.
UT Martin's weekend begins with hosting UAB on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Skyhawks will quickly turn around and host Jacksonville State on Sunday, Jan. 26 while also sending members of the team to Murray, Ky. to take part in the annual Withrow Invitational.
This weekend concludes the 2019-20 regular season for UT Martin rifle, who has been chosen to host this year's Ohio Valley Conference Championship. The league's marquee event will be held at the Skyhawk Rifle Range on Feb. 8-9.
In its last outing on Jan. 11, UT Martin generated a 4,592 combined score thanks to 2,322 points in air rifle and 2,270 points in smallbore against Murray State. The Skyhawks' air rifle squad consisted of Kaitlin Korinek (591), Rachel Sprague (580), Jennifer Plocinik (580), Jacob Osborne (571) and Nick Fares (565). The same five made up UT Martin's smallbore scoring team as Sprague (576), Korinek (572), Osborne (566), Plocinik (556) and Fares (532) each contributed to the Skyhawk tally.
Korinek has paced UT Martin in aggregate scoring in five of the team's eight matches this season – including a run of three straight heading into this weekend. The senior from Irwin, Pa. carries an air rifle average of 589 to go along with a 572 smallbore average on the season.
Leading the Skyhawks in smallbore average is Sprague (573) as the sophomore out of Falls Creek, Pa. additionally ranks second on the squad with a 583 average score in air rifle. Sprague has pieced together UT Martin's top combined score twice this season while Plocinik (582 air rifle average, 569 smallbore average) led the team in aggregate scoring at Morehead State on Nov. 3.
