Skyhawks Open Season With Solid Performances at Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team shot a 2275 smallbore and 2322 air rifle for an aggregate score of 4597 as it opened the 2026-27 season at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford.
Sophia Ashford led the Skyhawks in smallbore and aggregate scoring Saturday with a 570 and 1156, respectively, while Ian Lyons led the team in air rifle with a career-best 588. Rachel Haines also shot a team-high 570 in smallbore, while Zachary Brenner was close behind at 569. In air rifle, Ashford finished second for UT Martin with a 586, while Olivia Harvey shot a 575. Lyons finished five shots off Ashford in aggregate scoring, capping his Skyhawk debut with a 1151.
UT Martin will now take nearly a month off before returning to action Oct. 23-24 with a pair of matches at OVC rival Morehead State.
