MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball squad suffered a 20-2 setback to Ohio Valley Conference opponent Jacksonville State this afternoon.

UT Martin (20-27, 8-16 OVC) was led by the duo of Blake Davis (three hits) and Casey Harford (two hits) as they each plated one run in the contest. Jordan Stoner collected a pair of knocks while Sean Dixson tallied one hit on the day. Although they did not get a hit, Blake Daniels and Blake Williams each drew one walk.

Winston Cannon (5-8) drew the starting nod and was tagged with the loss as he logged 2.1 innings. In his time on the bump, he allowed five earned runs on six hits and one free base but sat down three via the punchout. The grouping of David Hussey, Jeff O'Doherty, Marcus Eusebio, Seth Petry and Jonah Brody combined for 5.2 innings of relief. They allowed 15 earned runs over that span but recorded three strikeouts along the way.

Jacksonville State pushed five runs across the plate between the first two innings to take an early 5-0 advantage.

The Skyhawks tallied two runs in the third as Dixson looped a single to right field to get things going. Stoner then roped a two-bagger to center to put both runners in scoring position. A Harford groudout would be good enough to plate Dixson before a Davis knock up the middle drove in Stoner to make the score 5-2.

The Gamecocks brought home 15 more runs over the rest of the ballgame to claim the 20-2 victory.

UT Martin heads to OVC rival Murray State this weekend for a three-game set. First pitch on Friday, May 10 is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
