
SKYHAWK BASEBALL OPENS ROAD SWING WITH TRIP TO EASTERN ILLINOIS

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball squad heads to the Land of Lincoln for an Ohio Valley Conference series with Eastern Illinois. This marks the first leg of a four-game road trip for the Skyhawks. Due to the treat of rain in the area, action with the Panthers is set to begin on Friday, April 26 at noon with the series finale to be played either Saturday or Sunday. UT Martin (16-24, 5-13 OVC) is led by the dynamic duo of Casey Harford and Jordan Stoner. The pair has combined for 21 doubles, a triple and six long balls to go along with 51 RBIs on the season. Harford narrowly paces the club in batting average (.345) and he leads the team in RBIs with 30. Stoner sits just behind Harford with a .344 batting clip and paces the squad in two-baggers with a dozen on the year. Stoner boasts a team-high .903 OPS while Harford has tallied a .890 mark in the category. Stoner ranks in the top-10 in the OVC in several categories including third in hit by pitch (13), fifth in doubles (12) and ninth in total hits (53). Harford has shown that not only can he hit but he can excel in the field as well as he ranks third in the league in assists (100) and tied for eighth in fielding double plays (20) Ethan Whitley is coming off a contest in which he belted a pair of homers including a solo shot and three-run long ball. Whitley has been involved in a conference-best 25 double plays turned, showcasing his squad's defensive ability.
Right-handed pitcher Austen Bullington (2-6, 5.01 ERA) is set to toe the rubber in Game 1 of the series. The Newburgh, Ind. native has tossed 50.1 innings this year and has sat down 32 batters via the punchout. Lefty Sam Folks (3-5, 4.23 ERA) looks to get the starting nod in Game 2 of the series. The southpaw out of Franklin, Tenn. has clocked in for a squad-best 61.2 innings and rung up 38 along the way. Right-hander Winston Cannon (4-7, 5.33 ERA) is set to take the mound in the series finale. The Cookeville, Tenn. pitcher has compiled 52.1 innings pitched this season to go along with a team-high 55 strikeouts while also pacing the club in wins (four). Nick Wohlbold looks to keep up his momentum as he is coming off his league-leading eighth save of the season which is tied for the most in a year. He has posted a 2.05 ERA and sat down 33 batters via strikeout in 26.1 innings.
Eastern Illinois (20-21, 10-11 OVC) boasts five players hitting over .300 as Christian Pena (.366), Ryan Ignoffo (.344), Grant Emme (.338), Jimmy Govern (.325) and Ryan Knernschield (.325) have all had success at the dish. Although he is not hitting over .300, Hunter Morris sports a .295 clip to go along with a team-best 13 doubles and 38 RBIs. He has also belted seven homers on the year while Govern leads the Panthers in long balls with nine.
