
UT MARTIN BASEBALL HEADS TO BLUEGRASS STATE FOR SERIES AGAINST EASTERN KENTUCKY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball program is set to travel to the Bluegrass State for a weekend series against Ohio Valley Conference opponent Eastern Kentucky.
UT Martin (8-12, 2-4 OVC) is led by the dynamic duo of Casey Harford and Jordan Stoner as both rank third and ninth in the OVC in batting average, respectively. Harford leads the team in batting average as he is swinging to the tune of .394 and has tallied a squad-best .914 OPS while he has roped four doubles and plated 11 runs. Stoner sports a .346 batting clip as he paces the team in total hits (27), homers (two) and RBIs (13). He has racked up a .881 OPS while his four stolen bases top the Skyhawks.
The UT Martin pitching staff has tallied a total of four shutouts which ranks fifth in the nation among all Division-I programs putting them in company with Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Omaha, Alabama, Louisville, Liberty, James Madison, UC Irvine and East Carolina.
Left-handed pitcher Sam Folks (3-0, 1.87 ERA) will toe the rubber in the Friday matchup. He leads the squad in victories and ERA among all starters while he has struck out 18 opposing batters and held them to a paltry .221 batting average in his 33.2 innings of work. Righty Austen Bullington (1-3, 3.86 ERA) looks to get the start on Saturday. He has also kept opposing batsmen at bay with a .225 opponent batting average while sitting down 18 across 28 innings. Right-handed pitcher David Hussey (1-2, 7.40 ERA) will get the starting nod on Sunday. He has logged over 20 innings on the season and recorded 15 strikeouts, having seen time as both a reliable reliever and as a solid option to open. Reliever Nick Wohlbold (0-1, 1.42 ERA) has earned the title of closer as he has accumulated four saves on the season and has sat down a dozen batters on strikes in 12.2 innings of work.
Eastern Kentucky (11-10, 0-3 OVC) is led by the scorching bat of Nick Howie (.384 batting average, seven home runs and 21 RBIs) who is coming off of a 1-for-3 performance against No. 4 Louisville. Against the Cardinals, he drove in a trio of runs on a long ball and was on base three times. His 1.256 OPS is second in the OVC while his 54 total bases pace the league. The Colonels have been a free-swinging club as they have belted a conference-best 28 home runs and have a total of seven batters with double-digit RBIs.
Righty Logan Teague (1-2, 5.40 ERA) will get the starting nod on Friday afternoon. He has clocked in for 28.1 innings and has sat down 20 opposing batters via the strikeout. Right-handed pitcher Kaven Brown (4-1, 3.03 ERA) looks to take the mound on Saturday. His 29.2 innings and 32 strikeouts along with his four victories pace Eastern Kentucky. He has also held opposing batters to just a .212 batting clip. Southpaw Brennan Kelly (2-2, 4.21 ERA) looks to toe the rubber on Sunday. He has logged 25.2 innings and rung up 21 batters in his time on the moung. Aaron Ochsenbein (1-0, 0.00 ERA) has been nearly untouchable as he has notched three saves across 15.2 innings while fanning 24 opposing batters under fourth-year head coach Edwin Thompson.
