JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The University of Tennessee at Martin landed two All-Ohio Valley Conference volleyball recipients this evening as Gintare Mackeviciute and Logan Wallick each claimed second team status.
This marks the first time in school history that the Skyhawks earned a pair of All-OVC second team performers. UT Martin has now boasted seven All-OVC honorees in Jaclynn Wilson's five seasons as head coach.
A 6-2 middle blocker, Mackeviciute led the Skyhawks with a .295 hitting percentage while ranking second on the squad in kills (269, 2.36 per set) and blocks (100, 0.88 per set). She is one of just six OVC players to swat away at least 100 blocks while her .337 attack percentage in league play ranked fourth in the OVC.
Mackeviciute reached double-figures in the kill column on 11 different occasions in 2019, including a season-best 17 rally killers against Southeast Missouri on Oct. 29. The senior out of Jonava, Lithuania also hit above .400 nine times with a season-high .733 effort (11 kills, zero errors in 15 swings) against Middle Tennessee on Oct. 22. She also turned away at least three blocks in 18 matches, including a career-best nine swats at Southern Illinois on Sept. 17.

Wallick developed into a consistent offensive threat throughout the 2019 campaign as the 6-0 redshirt sophomore led UT Martin in kills 15 times overall (including 12 of the final 15 matches). She paced the squad in kills in seven consecutive matches from Oct. 11 through Oct. 26, including a career-best 24 kills (on a .391 attack percentage) in just four sets at Tennessee State on Oct. 26. That match led to OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 28.
The outside hitter from Waddell, Ariz. generated double-digit kills in 15 matches in 2019 – including nine straight to close out the regular season. Wallick hit a season-high .444 (14 kills against only two miscues) in 27 attempts in the win over Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 18 and accounted for her first career double-double (16 kills, career-best 15 digs) against Southeast Missouri on Oct. 29.

These two helped guide the Skyhawks to their first winning season in OVC play (9-7) since 2011, tying for fifth place in the final regular season standings. UT Martin enters tomorrow's OVC Championship quarterfinals as the No. 6 seed as the Skyhawks square off against No. 3 seed Murray State at 10 a.m.
