MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team begins a challenging four-game road swing with its first-ever matchup against the Fresno State Bulldogs out of the Mountain West Conference. Tipoff on Saturday, Dec. 22 is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST.
Over the next three weeks, the Skyhawks will travel approximately 7,920 miles and will play four games in four different states (California, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri). UT Martin will be playing its first game in The Golden State since a visit to USC on Nov. 28, 2008.
The Skyhawks (5-4) are coming off back-to-back wins, including an exhilarating 75-72 win over in-state rival Chattanooga on Tuesday. In that game, Quintin Dove (16 points, career-best seven rebounds) and Derek Hawthorne, Jr. (15 points) helped carry the scoring load before Preston Parks heaved a 75-foot bank shot for the game-winner just before the final buzzer.
Delfincko Bogan also added 11 points, five assists and four steals in UT Martin's victory against Chattanooga. The Skyhawks have received steady play out of the Charleston, Mo. native all season, as the senior ranks in the top-eight in the Ohio Valley Conference in five different statistical categories. He leads the OVC (and ranks 25th nationally) with a 3.3 assist-to-turnover ratio in 2018-19.
Fresno State (8-2) enters the contest on a six-game winning streak, including a 95-73 triumph over California on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have won their last three games by an average of 20.7 points per contest with their only setbacks on the season coming to Miami (78-76) and then-No. 21 TCU (77-69) in November.
In the victory over California, New Williams' career-high 19 points paced six Fresno State scorers in double-figures. Noah Blackwell (13 points, nine assists, seven rebounds) flirted with a triple-double as the Bulldogs held the Golden Bears to just 20 percent shooting (3-of-15) from beyond the three-point arc.
The game will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network while live stats will also be available. Fans can access both of those links at the top of the webpage.
