11/11/2018 5:03:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will travel to the Hoosier State for its first road contest of the year at Horizon League power IUPUI on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Tipoff from The Jungle is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST and can be seen live on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (2-0) enter the contest looking to build upon the best start to the season for the squad since the 2011-12 campaign after a strong victory over Samford (89-68) in the season opener before holding off Southern Illinois on Friday night (95-94) to remain undefeated. In the team's most recent contest, UT Martin held a lead as large as 20 points before Southern Illinois cut away at the margin and later took the lead. With the game in doubt, the Skyhawks retook control late in a game which saw the squad tally 34 free throw attempts – the most since the 2014-15 season – while five players scored in double figures.
UT Martin boast four players who are averaging in double figures. Preseason All-OVC sophomore Chelsey Perry (13.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and sophomore Zaire Hicks (13.0 ppg), 3.0 asp) enter as the team's top scorers. Senior Preseason All-OVC honoree Emanye Robertson also returns to average 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game while freshman Sade' Hudson rounds out the quartet with 11.5 points per game.
IUPUI (2-0) is also looking to remain undefeated after an impressive road victory at Ole Miss on Friday evening, winning 66-58. The Jaguars return most of their roster from a squad which posted a 22-10 mark and earned a Women's NIT berth a year ago. Sophomore Macee Williams paces a team which features five players in double figures with 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Sydney Hall (14.5 ppg), Holly Hoopingarner (14.0 ppg), Katelyn O'Reily (12.0 ppg) and Briana Mishler (10.0) fills out the balanced scoring attack offensively.
Tuesday's matchup will mark the first meeting between the two programs in series history.
