
BROOKE GYORI NABS ADIDAS OVC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference announced today that University of Tennessee at Martin senior libero Brooke Gyori earned the adidas OVC Defensive Player of the Week award.
This marks the second career OVC Defensive Player of the Week award for Gyori, who also won the accolade on Sept. 18, 2017. She joins Kasey Elswick (10 times) and Chelsea Bowles (five times) as the only players in Skyhawk history to win the award on more than one occasion.
Gyori put together a remarkable week for UT Martin during its road split at SIUE (lost 3-1) and Eastern Illinois (won 3-1). The Oregon, Ohio native scooped up 59 digs in the two matches, averaging 7.38 digs over eight sets.
During Friday's match at SIUE, Gyori tallied a career-best 32 digs to go along with three assists. The next day at Eastern Illinois, the 5-4 defensive sparkplug went off for 27 digs to go along with five assists and a service ace.
On the season, Gyori's 4.97 digs per set rank second in the OVC. She has recorded double-digit digs in all 17 matches this season, while eclipsing the 20-dig mark on eight different occasions.
The Skyhawks return to action this week when they travel to Southeast Missouri tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
