MOREHEAD, Ky.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team fell 13-4 to Morehead State on Friday night at Allen Field.

Colten Payton (home run) and TJ Dunsford had multi-hit games while Andrew Davis (team-best two RBIs) and TJ Grines (home run) drove in runs for the Skyhawks (15-15, 3-5 Ohio Valley Conference).

Cason Sharp (1-3) started for UT Martin and pitched three innings. Making appearances out of the bullpen were Drake Bayles (3.1 innings), JP Nunn (0.2 innings, one strikeout) and Gehrig Wright (one inning, one strikeout).

On the very first pitch of the game, Grines put UT Martin in front by leading off the contest with a solo shot over the right field wall. Morehead State (14-16, 3-5 OVC) leveled the score in the home half and carried a lead going into the top of the fourth. The Skyhawks once again started an inning with the long ball when Payton homered to bring the score to 5-2.

Bayles entered in the fourth and pitched a scoreless frame with two flyouts and a groundout. UT Martin pulled within one in the top of the fifth via a two-run double by Davis that scored Tommy Koch and Garner Anderson for a 5-4 score.

However, the Eagles were able to build spacing over the following innings to take the victory in Game 2 of the weekend series.

The series finale is set for tomorrow at 1 p.m.
