MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team took an early lead but fell 10-6 to Eastern Illinois in Game 2 of the weekend series from Skyhawk Field.

The Skyhawk (20-22, 6-11 Ohio Valley Conference) offense was led by TJ Dunsford (home run, double, four RBIs), TJ Grines (two stolen bases), Andrew Lawrence (RBI, double) and Amari Conley (double, triple) who all collected two hits. Colten Payton drew three walks and scored two runs with a single.

Cason Sharp (2-5) went six innings and struck out two while Gehrig Wright (0.1 innings), Gabe Bryant, JP Nunn, Mason Little (0.2 innings, one strikeout) and Zach Wager (two innings, no hits allowed, no runs allowed) saw relief appearances.

The right-hander Sharp worked well through the first three innings and his bats gave him a lead when Dunsford blasted his team-best ninth homer of the year in three-run fashion. Eastern Illinois (24-14, 12-5 OVC) pulled in front in the fourth frame but went scoreless in fifth after Sharp induced a 6-4-3 double play and a groundout. Sharp pitched a clean sixth and left two runners stranded.

The Panthers extended their lead in the seventh, however Wager dealt a scoreless eighth and allowed no hits in his appearance. Dunsford, Greene and Lawrence were able to drive in runs in the final two frames, but UT Martin would fall in the end, 10-6.

The series finale is set for tomorrow at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
