Skyhawks Host Belmont For Final Home Midweek Contest

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team closes out its home midweek slate when it hosts in-state rival Belmont on Tuesday, April 21 at 5 p.m.
As a team, UT Martin (19-20) is top 25 in the country in doubles (fifth, 96), batting average (17th, .314), stolen bases (17th, 100), hits (17th, 424) and triples (23rd, 12). The Skyhawks are currently slugging .481 (third in Ohio Valley Conference) and have reached base safely at a clip of .396 (fourth in OVC).
Reigning OVC Pitcher of the Week Jacob Sitton enters the week top 10 in the league in batters struck out looking (second, 15), strikeouts (fifth, 51), innings pitched (fifth, 60), earned run average (eighth, 3.60) and opposing batting average (ninth, .248). Right-hander Cason Sharp has fanned 13 batters in his last 13 innings on the mound. The UT Martin bullpen is led in appearances by Gabe Bryant, who boasts a 22:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio while Will Turner leads all Skyhawk relievers in punchouts with 32.
TJ Grines' 40 stolen bases lead the country and his 53 runs scored are good for eighth most in all of NCAA DI College Baseball. Colten Payton sits fourth on the conference's leaderboards in RBIs with 44 while Garner Anderson is slugging a team-best .581 (10th in OVC). TJ Dunsford and JT Popick both rank inside the league's top 10 in doubles with 12 and 11, respectively.
Belmont (14-26) is 15th in the country in triples (13) while being second in the Missouri Valley Conference in home runs (42) and third in slugging percentage (.422). Brady Holbrook leads the team in batting average (.346) and Charlie Davis owns a team-best .932 OPS (10th in the MVC).
