Skyhawks Polish Off Regular Season With Another OVC Sweep

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Two more wins were added to the University of Tennessee at Martin's beach volleyball ledger today as the Skyhawks soared to victories over Eastern Illinois (3-0) and Lindenwood (3-2) to complete the Ohio Valley Conference Weekend at Morehead State.

The pair of victories propelled UT Martin (14-7, 7-3 OVC) into a tie for second place in the league standings at the conclusion of the regular season. The Skyhawks will enter next week's OVC Championship tournament as the No. 3 seed.

UT Martin's No. 4 tandem of Andie Kryak/Amara Traiger went 2-0 on the day to lead the way. Kayla Bryant/Riley Rushing (No. 1) and Reagan McGee/Dylan Sulcer (No. 2) also went unbeaten on the day while Luli Arcucci/Lauren Mariscal (No. 3) and Abby Freund/Kristin Phillips (No. 5) added a victory this morning against Eastern Illinois.

Playing to decision in the first matchup of the day, the Skyhawks made short work of the Panthers. Arcucci/Mariscal got things started with a 23-21, 21-14 win for their 10^th triumph of the season. Freund/Phillips followed with a 21-10, 19-21, 15-10 victory for their third win in as many tries this spring before Kryak/Traiger clinched the UT Martin triumph with a 21-13, 19-21, 15-6 winner.

The Lions (17-7, 7-3 OVC) took a 2-1 lead in today's second match but the Skyhawks roared back to take the victory. Kryak/Traiger managed their team-best 13^th triumph of the season via a 21-18, 21-14 score before Freund/Phillips (21-16, 13-21, 15-10) and Arcucci/Mariscal (22-20, 21-18) fell by close margins. Bryant/Rushing evened up the score with their fifth victory of the season (21-19, 21-13) before McGee/Sulcer came through with a 21-18, 23-21 triumph to improve to 4-0 together this spring.

UT Martin will proudly host the 2026 OVC Championship tournament at the Skyhawk Beach Volleyball Complex. The double-elimination tournament begins on Thursday, April 23 as UT Martin's first match will be against No. 6 seed Tennessee Tech at 12 p.m. The event will run through Saturday, April 25 as six teams will combine to play 10 matches in the tournament.
