UT Martin Captures Two Wins On First Day Of OVC Weekend At Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball squad won nine of its 10 decisions at the Ohio Valley Conference Weekend at Morehead State today, piecing together dominant victories of 5-0 against Tennessee Tech and 4-1 against the tournament host Eagles.
The Skyhawks went unbeaten today at No. 1 (Kayla Bryant/Riley Rushing), No. 2 (Reagan McGee/Dylan Sulcer), No. 4 (Andie Kryak/Amara Traiger) and No. 5 (Abby Freund/Kristin Phillips). UT Martin's No. 3 duo of Luli Arcucci/Lauren Mariscal also earned a victory at No. 3 this morning against Tennessee Tech.
In the matchup against Tennessee Tech, Freund made her collegiate debut alongside Phillips and produced a 21-6, 21-18 victory. Kryak/Traiger followed with a 21-14, 21-5 triumph before McGee/Sulcer claimed the clinching point via a 21-6, 21-8 decision. Bryant/Rushing tacked on a 21-15, 21-16 victory before Arcucci/Mariscal picked up their ninth win of the spring with a 21-10, 21-10 triumph.
The Skyhawks improved to 12-7 overall (5-3 OVC) after an impressive road victory against Morehead State. Kryak/Traiger accounted for their team-best 11th win this season with a 21-16, 21-18 triumph while Freund/Phillips made it 2-0 on the day after a hard-fought 18-21, 21-16, 16-4 victory. Bryant/Rushing officially secured the win with a 21-12, 26-24 triumph – their fourth together this season. McGee/Sulcer nabbed their third victory in as many tries in 2026 with a 21-15, 21-12 win. Arcucci/Mariscal nearly made it another sweep but they were narrowly edged out 22-20, 15-21, 15-12 in a third-set tiebreaker.
Start times for tomorrow have been pushed up as the tournament will try to avoid forecasted inclement weather. UT Martin will tentatively take on Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m. and Lindenwood at 2 p.m. as all matches will play to decision and feature rolling starts upon the conclusion of the previous match.
