
UT Martin Ends First Day Of Scenic City Showdown With 10th Win Of The Season

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball squad improved to 10-5 on the season following the first of two days at the Scenic City Showdown at the UTC Sports Complex. The Skyhawks fell 5-0 to Ohio Valley Conference rival Chattanooga this morning before bouncing back with a 5-0 late afternoon sweep of their own against Berry.
A total of seven different pairs saw action for UT Martin today, including the official Skyhawk debut of redshirt freshman Maddy Gladson. Kayla Bryant/Riley Rushing (No. 1), Gladson/McGee (No. 2), Luli Arcucci/Dylan Sulcer (No. 3 in their debut as a pair), Lauren Mariscal/Amara Traiger (No. 4 in their debut together) and Andie Kryak/Kristin Phillips (No. 5) all claimed victories in the nightcap while Sulcer/Traiger (No. 3) and Arcucci/Mariscal (No. 4) each joined forces in the first match of the day.
Kryak/Phillips accounted for UT Martin's closest battle against the Mocs (14-3, 6-0 OVC), narrowly falling by a 23-21, 21-16 margin. Bryant/Rushing put up a fight but fell 21-15, 21-18 while Sulcer/Traiger (21-15, 21-16) and Arcucci/Mariscal (21-17, 21-13) were narrowly defeated. Gladson/McGee fell 21-12, 21-10 in their first decision as a duo in 2026.
The Skyhawks recovered in a big way against a Berry squad that entered the match with an 18-6 record. Mariscal/Traiger sealed UT Martin's first point behind a 21-13, 21-15 victory before Kryak/Phillips secured a 21-13, 21-12 triumph. The match-clinching point came via Arcucci/Sulcer (21-19, 21-10) while Bryant/Rushing improved to 2-1 on the season with a 21-16, 21-12 win. Gladson/McGee put the finishing touches on the sweep with a 24-22, 21-18 triumph.
The Skyhawks close out nonconference play tomorrow, taking on Eastern Kentucky at 9 a.m. CT and North Alabama at 3 p.m. CT.
