
Skyhawks Split Last Day Of OVC Weekend At Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Andie Kryak and Amara Traiger extended their winning streak to five for the University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball squad today as the Skyhawks split on Day 2 of the Ohio Valley Conference Weekend at Chattanooga. UT Martin fell 4-1 to Lindenwood to begin the day before sweeping Tennessee Tech by a 5-0 margin in the tournament finale.
Paired together at No. 4, Kryak and Traiger were the only Skyhawk tandem to go 2-0 today, capping off a perfect 4-0 performance in the tournament. Kayla Bryant/Riley Rushing (No. 1) and Reagan McGee/Dylan Sulcer (No. 2) each went 1-0 while Luli Arcucci/Lauren Mariscal (No. 3) and Bella Heyne/Kristin Phillips (No. 5) also added one win today.
Kryak/Traiger gave UT Martin a 1-0 lead on the scoreboard during the Lindenwood matchup, tallying a 21-17, 23-21 victory. Heyne/Phillips battled but dropped a tough third-set tiebreaker (21-23, 21-16, 20-18) while Arcucci/Mariscal (21-14, 21-15), Rushing/Sulcer (25-23, 21-13 at No. 1) and Bryant/McGee (21-18, 21-17 at No. 2) were embroiled with close decisions but ultimately fell.
The Skyhawks quickly bounced back with a decisive triumph over Tennessee Tech. Heyne/Phillips improved to 3-1 on the season after a 21-16, 18-21, 15-13 win to get things started. Arcucci/Mariscal notched their eighth victory of 2026 with a 21-9, 21-12 triumph. Paired together for the first time this season, Bryant/Rushing nabbed a match-clinching 21-9, 21-17 win while Kryak/Traiger ran their spring record to 9-4 after a 21-8, 21-11 victory. McGee/Sulcer also joined forces for the first time in 2026 and generated a commanding 21-5, 21-7 triumph.
UT Martin (9-4, 3-2 OVC) steps away from official competition next week before heading back to Chattanooga for four matches in the Scenic City Showdown. The Skyhawks will take on OVC foe Chattanooga and Berry on Friday, April 10 before battling Eastern Kentucky and North Alabama on Saturday, April 11.
