DICKSON, Tenn. – Grant Phillips carded his third straight red score today for the University of Tennessee at Martin, bringing home co-medalist honors at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate with an overall score of 208 (-8) at GreyStone Golf Club.
Today's victory was the second in Phillips' collegiate career as he also placed first at The Indy at Arlington on March 22, 2025. The junior from Marietta, Ga. shot a 71 (-1) today to tie Jacksonville State's Will Drake for the best score in the 92-man field. Phillips ended the 54-hole event ranking first in the field in par-4 scoring (3.73, -8), first in fewest bogeys (four) and fourth in pars (38).
"I couldn't be more proud of Grant to get his second collegiate victory," Skyhawk head coach Austin Swafford said. "He's having his best year yet and this is proof of how solid his game is right now. It felt like a win was coming for him and this week was it."
Phillips was one of a trio of UT Martin representatives to place in the top-15 of the player standings. Sophomore Drew Williams claimed his fifth top-10 finish of the season as his 213 (-3) was the seventh-best score in the field. His 4.42 (-7) par-5 scoring average led the whole tournament while his team-best 13 birdies ranked fifth in the field. Luke Caldwell's 215 (-1) placed him 14th on the player leaderboard, making that five top-15 performances for the senior in 2025-26. The lefty ranked sixth in the field in par-3 scoring (3.00, E).
As a team, the Skyhawks placed second in the 16-team field with an aggregate score of 851 (-13). That included an even-par 288 today as UT Martin finished only two strokes behind Jacksonville State, who shot a 277 (-11) in Round 3 on the way to an 849 (-15). The Skyhawks led the tournament in par-4 scoring (4.01, +1) and fewest double bogeys (four) while ranking second in par-5 scoring (4.80, -12), second in fewest bogeys (38) and third in birdies (53).
"It certainly was a great week for us," Swafford said. "We put ourselves in a position to win and I don't want that to be forgotten. However, we have to learn to finish and that starts with me getting us better prepared for the moment. Overall, I am extremely proud for us to finish at 13-under for the week considering the conditions of the first 18 holes. This experience will benefit us down the road."
Phillips had two birdies and 15 pars today as his 71 equaled Caldwell (three birdies) for the best UT Martin score in Round 3. Williams tapped in a pair of birdies as part of an even-par 72 while Jaden Morrell's 74 (+2) with two birdies rounded out the scoring for the Skyhawks. John-Gregory Wilson also managed a pair of birdies on the way to a 79 (+7).
Competing as an individual, Bryce Harmon put together his best round of the tournament as his 70 (-2) on the scorecard included a team-best six birdies.
Wilson and Harmon each finished with a 222 (+6) while Morrell shot a 225 (+9) for the tournament.
The Skyhawks will step away from official competition next week before opening an active April at the Racer Intercollegiate (April 6-7) in Paducah, Ky.
