UT Martin Rolls To A Pair Of Opening Day Victories At Bears Beach Bash

MACON, Ga. – The first day of the 2026 campaign was a stirring success for the University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball squad as the Skyhawks soared to a 5-0 win over Wesleyan College and a 4-1 triumph over Mercer.

Four of the five UT Martin pairs went 2-0 on the day as the No. 2 tandem of Kayla Bryant and Reagan McGee earned both clinching points. The Skyhawks also received unbeaten performances out of the No. 1 duo of Riley Rushing/Dylan Sulcer, No. 4 team of Andie Kryak/Amara Traiger and No. 5 pair of Kristin Phillips/MC Rehm.

UT Martin's No. 3 tandem of Luli Arcucci and Lauren Mariscal additionally tacked on a victory in the first match of the day against Wesleyan.

Phillips/Rehm collected a win via forfeit to start the matchup against Wesleyan before a dominant 21-2, 21-1 win by Kryak/Traiger completed the first wave of matches. Bryant/McGee coasted to a 21-7, 21-3 victory to clinch the Skyhawk win while Rushing/Sulcer (21-2, 21-4) and Arcucci/Mariscal (21-1, 21-4) added commanding triumphs.

UT Martin kept things rolling with a win over the tournament hosts in the second match of the day. Phillips/Rehm managed a 21-8, 21-19 victory before a 22-20, 21-16 triumph by Kryak/Traiger. The team win was clinched after a 21-13, 21-12 victory from Bryant/McGee before Rushing/Sulcer outlasted their competition by a 21-19, 17-21, 15-10 margin. Arcucci/Mariscal put up a fight in its matchup but narrowly fell 22-20, 21-15.

The Day 2 schedule of the Bears Beach Bash has been altered as the Skyhawks will now face Palm Beach Atlantic tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. CT and Huntingdon College at 9:30 a.m. CT.
