
Skyhawks Conclude Season-Long Homestand With The Citadel This Weekend

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team wraps up a season-long 12-game homestand when it plays host to The Citadel this weekend. Game 1 is set for Friday, March 13th at 5 p.m. and Game 2 will follow on Saturday, March 14th at 3 p.m. The final game of the series is scheduled for Sunday, March 15th at 1 p.m.

The Skyhawk offense has remained a force in the national standings, ranking 10th in stolen bases (48) and doubles (44) while also in the top-25 in triples (11th, seven) and batting average (22nd, .321). UT Martin (8-8) is third in the Ohio Valley Conference in earned run average (6.04) and saves (four).

Colten Payton is currently riding a 15-game hitting streak and pacing the team in hits with 28 (19th in the country). TJ Grines' 18 stolen bases are the second-most in the country while Andrew Davis has swiped 12 bags (19th). Garner Anderson is slugging .938 (10th in the country) and reaching base safely at a clip of .581 (16th).

With three saves on the year, right-hander Mason Little claims the number 19 spot in NCAA DI baseball in that category. Senior righty Jacob Sitton boasts a 1.96 ERA (fifth in the OVC) and senior right-hander Maxwell Schumacher sports a 2.86 ERA (seventh in the OVC). Gehrig Wright and Gabe Bryant have been featured in relief appearances seven times throughout the year (tied for team-high).

The Citadel (6-8) is coming off an 8-3 win over South Carolina on Tuesday night and make its first visit to Skyhawk Field in program history. The Bulldogs' 22 sacrifice bunts are good enough to lead the country in that category while they rank fourth in the Southern Conference in strikeouts per nine innings (8.5).

Phillips Daniels has a team-best .356 batting average and Zach Hunt has driven in 12 runs (team-high). On the mound, Will Holmes touts a 3.63 ERA in four games started while CJ Van Slooten carries an unblemished ERA in four appearances out of the bullpen.

Sitton (2-0) will go against the lefty graduate Holmes (1-2) in Game 1 while senior right-hander Brandon King (0-2, 6.17) squares off with freshman righty Riley Ballard (2-0, 2.84) on Saturday for Game 2. In the series finale, Schumacher (1-0) faces freshman right-hander Jacob Deacon (0-0, 2.84).
