
Skyhawks Welcome In Missouri Valley Conference Favorite Murray State on Tuesday

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team returns home to begin a season-long 11 game homestand when it hosts 2025 College World Series participant Murray State on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m.

The Skyhawk offense has been red hot in their first seven games leading the Ohio Valley Conference in stolen bases (20, only caught stealing three times) and doubles (17). UT Martin (3-4) ranks among the league leaders in batting average (second, .322), hits (second, 83), total bases (second, 125), runs scored (third, 56), RBIs (third, 54), slugging percentage (third, .484), on-base percentage (third, .393) and home runs (fourth, seven). The Skyhawk pitching staff currently ranks fourth in the OVC in saves (two).

Reigning conference player of the week Garner Anderson sits among the OVC's elite to start the season. The redshirt junior leads the league in slugging percentage (1.462) and places in the top-two in batting average (.538), on-base percentage (.684), OPS (2.146) and home runs (three). JT Popick (four doubles, second in OVC) and Colten Payton (13 hits, fourth) have also been forces in the lineup.

Will Turner (.138 opposing batting average, seventh in OVC) boasts a 2.08 ERA out of the bullpen with nine strikeouts while Brandon King has fanned six batters in two relief appearances.

Murray State (5-2) brings in the second-best batting average (.306) and RBI total (55) in the Missouri Valley. The Racer pitching staff has recorded 71 strikeouts on the season (second most in MVC) in 60.1 innings.
