
Skyhawks Welcome Old Rival Murray State Thursday

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team welcomes former OVC foe Murray State to Skyhawk Soccer Field in Martin for a non-conference affair Thursday at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, an Illinois State goal in the 77th minute broke up a scoreless draw and clinched the win for the Redbirds, 1-0, over UT Martin. Illinois State outshot the Skyhawks, 18-10, in the match and placed more shots on target at 8-6. The Redbirds also dominated the match in corner kicks. 7-2. Peyton Cook accounted for half of UT Martin's total shots in the game with five and half of its shots on goal with three. Jordyn Riffle played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Skyhawks and saved seven shots, despite the late goal.
Thursday will be the 28th all-time meeting between Murray State and the Skyhawks, with the Racers holding a comfortable 17-6-4 lead in the series. Murray State has won each of the last two meetings in the series, with the last win for UT Martin coming in 2021, 2-1, in Martin. At Skyhawk Soccer Field, UT Martin has fared slightly better with Murray State leading the series there, 9-5
After falling to Xavier, 8-0, on the road last Thursday, Murray State bounced back with a 3-2 win over Marshall at home Sunday. Just four minutes after Marshall equalized in the 79th minute, Breece Bass struck for the Racers in the 83rd minute to seal the 3-2 win for Murray State.
Bass leads the Racers on the year with two goals, 17 shots and eight shots on goal, with both of her goals serving as game winners. Kate Stordy leads Murray State in assists with two, while Addison Howell and Mary Hardy each have 10-plus shots on the year.
In goal, Griselda Revolorio has played all but just over seven minutes in goal for the Racers this season. The junior has allowed 13 goals on the year, while making 27 saves. She currently has a goals against average of 2.20 and a save percentage of 67.5-percent.
As a team, the Racers are allowing 2.17 goals per game, while scoring 1.17. Murray State currently averages 14.0 shots per game, totaling 84. In terms of accuracy, the Racers have placed 27 of their 84 shots on target, for a percentage of 32.1.
