WACO, Texas – A total of nine spots shifted from last week's National Collegiate Equestrian Association top-10 rankings, resulting in the University of Tennessee at Martin dropping a spot to No. 10.
Auburn is the only team to keep its previous ranking as the Tigers are still No. 1. All nine spots changed after that as SMU is now No. 2, TCU is No. 3, Texas A&M is No. 4, Oklahoma State is No. 5, Georgia is No. 6, South Carolina is No. 7, Fresno State is No. 8, Baylor is No. 9 and the Skyhawks are No. 10.
UT Martin has not been in action since a weekend home split against Delaware State (won 13-6) and current No. 2 SMU (lost 11-6) on Feb. 21-22. The Skyhawks are 6-5 overall against a stacked schedule that has included five nationally ranked squads, four of which were in the top five at the time of their meets.
With one regular season meet remaining, UT Martin boasts 112 head-to-head victories and 26 MOP's. The Skyhawk reining squad lead the way in both of those categories as the same five riders have occupied the lineup all season, generating 34 wins. Four of those five riders have combined for nine MOP's in that event.
In flat, nine separate UT Martin riders have compiled 29 victories while a trio of those make up seven MOP's. The Skyhawk horsemanship lineup has only involved six riders, who have all contributed to 26 wins while three of those have posted six MOP's. Seven different fences participants have accounted for 23 head-to-head wins as four separate UT Martin representatives have notched MOP medals in that event.
The Skyhawks, who have now been ranked in 39 consecutive NCEA polls, head to Blythewood, SC for a matchup against No. 7 South Carolina in the regular season finale on Saturday, March 8.
