UT Martin Pushes Home Winning Streak To 15 Following Double Dual Sweep Of North Alabama

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin used clutch play to close out both matchups today against North Alabama, defeating the Lions twice in the 2025 home-opening matches at the Skyhawk Beach Volleyball Complex.
Each of the matches today came down to the fifth and final matchup. In the first match, UT Martin's No. 2 duo of Riley Rushing/Dylan Sulcer broke the 2-2 tie before the Skyhawks' No. 3 pairing of Kayla Bryant/Olivia O'Keefe accounted for the match-clinching win in the second of back-to-back matches this afternoon.
On the day, Rushing/Sulcer, Bryant/O'Keefe and Sydney Eckhardt/Reagan McGee (No. 4) went a perfect 2-0, helping UT Martin win its fifth straight match overall and 15th decision in a row at home.
During the noon matchup, Ryan Rednour/Kylie Surratt battled but fell 21-14, 21-13 at No. 5 but back-to-back Skyhawk wins gave UT Martin the lead. Eckhardt/McGee won by a 22-20, 21-17 margin before Bryant/O'Keefe scored a 21-14, 21-14 triumph to nudge the Skyhawks ahead by a 2-1 margin. At No. 1, Dylan Mott/Jenna Vallée fell 21-13, 21-19 before Rushing/Sulcer gutted through a 21-18, 19-21, 16-14 victory for the clincher.
In the final match of the day, Kristin Phillips/Rednour competed throughout but fell 21-18, 21-17 at No. 5. Eckhardt/McGee moved to 9-0 on the season following a gutsy 16-21, 25-23, 17-15 decision. UT Martin took a 2-1 lead in the match after Rushing/Sulcer won via an injury forfeit before Mott/Vallée were defeated 21-18, 21-13. With the match evened up at 2-2, Bryant/O'Keefe dug deep and pulled through for an impressive 16-21, 25-23, 17-15 come-from-behind victory – improving the Skyhawks to 9-5 on the season.
The season-long six-match homestand resumes as the "OVC Weekend at UT Martin" is on tap for Friday, March 21 through Saturday, March 22. The Skyhawks will face Eastern Illinois (2 p.m.) and Morehead State (6 p.m.) on Friday before squaring off against Lindenwood (4 p.m.) and Tennessee Tech (6 p.m.) on Saturday.
